If you have been on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or any other social media site, then chances are you have seen this trend before. If you explore more into this, some people claim that you can make so much per hour online. This can range from $30 an hour to much higher, such as $300 a day. If you know what I am talking about, then great, if not, then allow me to introduce you to the Make Money Online niche.
What is making money online?
So to give you an idea of what this is, It’s the promise that you can make so much online by doing little to no work. These can claim to be simple to do or have little work to put in. It also promises the individual that they can work from home and make a living.
This is nothing new. This has been around for a long time. While this trend was named differently back then, it had the same goal. To make money from home. So, what is it that makes people attempt this?
One reason is they want to work from home and be their own boss. Let’s be honest here, while some of you may be happy with your jobs, some want to leave their 9-to-5 job. Perhaps you’re fed up with having to deal with your crappy working conditions.
The one thing that I have learned from this is that there is one goal. To be able to make an income online, and being able to be financially free from whatever debts they are having to go through. This has become popular as time has passed, especially when COVID-19 hit back in 2020.
You may be thinking, it sounds too good to be true. There is no way that you can make that amount in a short amount of time. And, you would be right. While there are some places online that are legitimate, one thing that you need to be aware of is that most of these can be scams as well.
The reality with this is that depending on what kind of opportunity it is, it can lead to complications in the future. Let me give you an example.
If you have been in the make money online nice for a long time, then there is a possibility that you are aware of MOBE, or My Online Business Empire. To put it simply, it was an MLM that had promised people a substantial amount of money if they followed their 21-step program. It promised that it would be quick and easy. However, there was a catch.
You had to pay $49 a month to gain access to this program. If you think about it, It’s not bad. You’re investing in something that can help you improve your income. This is where things start to take a bit of a turn. In reality, it was more a sales pitch than anything, The way you made money with it, was promoting the product, rather than the product itself.
Eventually, people started to complain to the point where the Federal Trade Commission got involved. Long story short, the FTC shuts down MOBE and charges three individuals more than $125 million for fraud. You can read it here.
Another thing that I have observed is that they claim they know the secret to success. All you have to do is sign up for their program, and they will teach you everything that you need to know. Chances are that it’s been done before. So that secret that they are talking about, it doesn’t exist. It’s a copywriting technique that pressures you into buying that product.
Another reality of this is that people can go into debt trying to make these online opportunities work for them. Sometimes they don’t realize it's a scam until it’s too late. Your emotions get in the way of being able to think clearly. You get desperate to try and make some kind of income.
This is also something that you should also be aware of. Reviews are not always honest when it comes to promoting their program or product. There is a right way, and then there is the wrong way.
The right way to do a review
Perhaps someone has asked to review your product. Well, the good thing is that if you let them, they test out your product, and hopefully if everything works well, you get a good review from it. There is no guarantee that it’s going to be positive. Even though you may get negative reviews, it’s important to publish those since it’s important for the consumer to be informed.
The wrong way to do a review
This is where things get interesting. There are sites where you can go, and pay someone to leave a review. What I mean by this is that they review the item, and then leave a positive review, even if the product is poor quality. Please do not do this. This will make it harder for you to trust.
Also, never use a review generator to help promote your products. If you are not familiar with what a review generator is, it allows you to generate a review by putting in a bit of information about your product, and it will give you a fake review, with a fake name.
You may be asking how I know this? Well, to be honest, I used to dabble in this back in 2017. I don’t remember the name of the forum that got me into this niche since it was a long time ago. However, it was the first forum that I had used where it showed people different ways of making money online.
I first started by doing surveys. Now it wasn’t much at all, but by doing a few, I was able to make 5 dollars within an hour. 5 dollars is not much at all, but at the time, it was proof that I needed that I could make some sort of income online. Eventually, I went from doing surveys to doing affiliate marketing.
I’m not going to get into the whole thing with affiliate marketing since I will cover that in a later article, and this would be an extremely long post if I were to do that. So what can you do to make sure that you aren’t getting scammed? There are a few things that you can do.
Always do research on the product you are looking at.
This may seem like a pain in the ass to do, but in reality, this can help you determine if it's a good idea to buy it or not. There is a reason why reviews exist. Once you have enough information on it, then you can make a decision if it's a good idea or not.
Check to see if the methods they are using will not get you in trouble.
One thing to keep in mind is that some of the methods they are using are probably questionable. If it’s taking you into a gray area, it's usually best to avoid it so you don’t get yourself in trouble.
That’s all I have for now. Thanks for reading.
